Fields of Elysium by A.B. Whelan

Fields of Elysium by A.B. Whelan

How can love mend a heart full of hate?

Small town girl, Molly Bennett, moves to Los Angeles where she becomes an outsider while attending Beverly Hills High School. It seems life cannot be any more dreadful. Then one day after school, something magical happens. On a secluded hike in the Hollywood Hills, Molly chases her disobedient mutt and only friend into a hidden cavern. She stumbles upon a strange glimmering gateway that transports her to Arkana, a planet that is the cradle of an advanced human race. There, teenagers navigate amazing flying vehicles, compete in perilous games for glory, and possess supernatural powers. While Molly tries to wrap her mind around this unbelievable discovery, she meets the alluring and mysterious Victor Sorren. He is a Sentinel Apprentice, whose hatred toward people from Earth is beyond understanding. Yet every time Victor unpredictably saves Molly's life, his heart draws closer to hers, no matter how much he tries to fight against it. It further complicates things that their growing friendship is strictly forbidden. Earth people are prohibited in Arkana, yet Molly continues to cross through the portal to Arkana to see Victor. Torn between their double lives, they go down a dangerous path, from where there is no return and multiple endings.

Fields of Elysium is a suspenseful, romantic tale full of forbidden secrets, unimaginable danger, deception, and the never-ending fight for true love.

Book (Series) Review - The Midnight Breed by Lara Adrian

I've been re-rereading The Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian.

Why? Because her NEW release, Edge of Dawn, is due out February 26! I cannot wait for Mira's story.

In the first ten books, the Breeds are a race of vampires that live (in secret) alongside humanity. All Breed are born male and mate with a very special woman called a Breedmate, a woman that has a teardrop tattoo somewhere on her body.

In Edge of Dawn, the Breed have come out of the closet, and males are not the only vampires around.

Book Review: Thorn by Intisar Khanani

Cover Blurb:
For Princess Alyrra, choice is a luxury she's never had ... until she's betrayed.

Princess Alyrra has never enjoyed the security or power of her rank. Between her family's cruelty and the court's contempt, she has spent her life in the shadows. Forced to marry a powerful foreign prince, Alyrra embarks on a journey to meet her betrothed with little hope for a better future.

But powerful men have powerful enemies--and now, so does Alyrra. Betrayed during a magical attack, her identity is switched with another woman's, giving Alyrra the first choice she's ever had: to start a new life for herself or fight for a prince she's never met. But Alyrra soon finds that Prince Kestrin is not at all what she expected. While walking away will cost Kestrin his life, returning to the court may cost Alyrra her own. As Alyrra is coming to realize, sometime the hardest choice means learning to trust herself.

I loved this book!!

Great book with high fantasy, romance, danger, & adventure.

Book Review - This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

I love Bones! Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. Jeaniene Frost brings every character to life, but Bones is too awesome for words.

I've read all the Night Huntress Novels, beginning with Halfway to the Grave. Bones and Cat's relationship keeps getting better and better. It is evolving along with each story.

I must admit, I've had This Side of the Grave sitting in my To Read pile for over a month. I simply couldn't bring myself to read about the New Orleans' ghouls. - Not a big fan of ghouls - That was such a huge mistake, because I loved this book! (I decided to give it a try after The Vampire Club recommended it.)

~ minor spoiler alert ~

It was fast paced and had several twists I never saw coming. Of course, I cried when a certain person died. Yeah, death follows Cat around like a shadow. Never fear, it's turns out to be a great twist in her continuing story line.

Mencheres & Kira from Eternal Kiss of Darkness appeared as secondary characters. So did Vlad! I'm really looking forward to his story! I think it's due at the end of December.

Also, (hint, hint) I really want Ian to have his own story. He needs someone special in his life.

Complete Series:

The next Night Huntress novel is One Grave at a Time on Aug. 30th ~ I can't wait!! I love the cover. It's simply gorgeous!

NOTE: I originally posted this review on June 27, 2011 at my very dusty review blog, a blog that I recently closed. On my new dragon scale, I give This Side of the Grave a roaring 5 dragons!!
